Filigree Pillow: A sample project for our new Filigrees Template Mini-Pack

Since we will be introducing our new template mini-packs at International Quilt Festival in Houston this week, I thought I would post a project (with instructions) that I made using the new Filigrees Mini-Pack to whet your appetite.

As a reminder, the Filigrees Mini-Pack will be available for purchase via our website on November 12, 2010.  (We’ll send out an e-mail and post to Facebook as a reminder when it is available.)

The pillow started with this photo. (It is a photo of some tile work on The Great Stupa of Dharmakaya.) If you click on the photo below, it will bring up a window with the full-size image that you are welcome to download for your own use.  Just right-click on the larger image and choose “Save Image As” to save it to your hard drive.

After running the photo through Kaleidoscope Kreator with the Filigrees Template Mini-Pack, it looked like this:

After printing on fabric, then fusing and a bit of stitching, it turned into the pillow above.  Here are some close-ups of the pillow:

Thank you for posting the pillow directions. It’s gorgeous! Would love to learn how you print on fabric – especially since you have such vivid colors. (I’ve seen so many different ways but don’t know which is best.)

    Thanks much!

thank you for posting the pillow instructions – I am so looking forward to obtaining the new template mini-packs.

    Again, thank you so much………….

Lori, The short answer to your question is that I use an Epson printer with DuraBrite ink on either ColorPlus Cotton Poplin (becoming very difficult to find) or EQ Printables Cotton Lawn inkjet fabric. I hesitate to claim that this is the “best”, but I have been happy with the results. I’ll try to do a post at some point with more details. Hope this helps.

    Jeanie,
Thank you! I’ll check into these ideas.

  • Jeanie, I love this project. I bought the filigree pack from you in Houston. Check out my blog. I posted a few filigree kaleidoscope photos that I created today.

You use Epson printer, any special version or model number which do you prefer? Dura brite ink, is that specific to Epson Printers?
Love this cannot wait to get started.
